Abstract

This review articles clarifies some of the issues in tertiary teaching in the area of social education in Australia. The key texts used in Australian teacher education programs are reviewed.

Ruth Reynolds

Ruth Reynolds is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Newcastle, Australia and teaches pedagogy and curriculum in Social Education at undergraduate, postgraduate and research levels. She is President of the Social Educators’ Association of Australia and serves on the Editorial Board of its journal, The Social Educator. She has authored and co-authored texts for tertiary students as well as a series of school-based texts on pedagogy and social education in primary schools.
